
My Grandfather Frank Gustaf Severin (Ersson Eriksson) Erickson on horseback while he was working on a ranch near Miles City, Montana in 1914. Frank was born in Sundsvall, Sweden and emigrated from Sweden to North Dakota with his parents and siblings in 1903.
Frank would end up serving in 1918 on the Western Front in France with the 308th Infantry of the 77th Division. He would become a Silver Star recipient for his actions in the Argonne Forest during what was referred to as a member of the ‘Lost Battalion.
Later he would be recommended for the ‘Medal of Honor’ by both the Governor and Senator from his Home state of North Dakota.
